My Favorite Corner

This doesn’t mean you must be standing in a gallery downtown, gazing up at a famous sculpture, to find art that speaks to you. For some, this may be true, but it doesn’t mean it is true for you.
Words have been my art form for as long as my mind lets me remember. More specifically, poetry has played an integral role in how I process emotions, see the world from new points of view, and explore creative ways to shape words into my version of a sculpture.
I can be methodical yet chaotic, calm yet excitable, and adaptable yet skeptical. Poetry is all of these things. With few rules, poetry is an outlet to express notions that conflict or harmonize. The reader can either go on the journey with the poet, or create their own. So even if your art of choice isn’t poetry, these are some poems that I would like to share. You can look into them as deeply or as shallowly as you like.
Admittedly, if you were to ask me the motivation or the muse for them, sometimes I may not have an answer. Poetry is simply how I bring the enigmatic parts of my mind to the physical world.

One moving story, one unexpected conversation, and one moment spent viewing the world through another lens can offer a learning experience that is second to none. We think we have it all figured out until we encounter someone who has accomplished more than us, who has battled more adversity than us, who has escaped death, or who has invented something.
We all have it figured out. Until we don’t.
This blog is about elevating the voice of the collective and sharing the perspective of others so that maybe we can find a little of ourselves in their experience along the way.
